Texas Transition

Whew! These past several weeks have been both exciting and stressful. We officially moved out of our home in Illinois on Nov 7th. The start of our trek to our next home started off strong. We got on the road and both kids were happy. Our route of travel took us along historic Route 66. We drove through St. Louie, down to Joplin, Missouri, and eventually make it to Oklahoma City, which looked “oh so pretty.” Alex enjoyed looking for items on the checklist that I made for him (welcome signs, trains, cows, etc.). We made it to Texas the following day. We stayed overnight in the Dallas-Ft Worth area because traffic was horrendous and we couldn’t drive any further. We drove right by Texas Motor Speedway (the actual race was just one week prior to our arrival).

Our search for clean, affordable rentals was coming up empty. After a day and a half of no leads for finding a rental, we decided to further explore our options for buying our first home. We contacted our real estate agent and scrubbed through a list of 30-40 homes that fit what we wanted in a house. After that we decided to go take a look at a few of them in person. To make a long story short, we ultimately decided to put an offer on one of the homes. The offer was accepted and we are now waiting to close on the house.

Meanwhile, a new problem was brewing. When we started our trip, Ryan only had two teeth. One day we noticed that he was unhappy and nothing would change that because he was teething again. A day or two later we noticed another tooth was beginning to cut through. Just when we thought everything was getting better, Ryan decided that having two new teeth was not enough. Throughout this whole process, he was running a high fever. Ultimately, he ended up cutting four brand new teeth, all on the top.

I'm so glad the trip went well though, and CONGRATULATIONS on the house!!!! I am so happy for you guys. Hopefully we'll follow in your path soon! lol, but probably not soon enough for me.

did you hear, Jill is in process of buying a house? it's BEAUTIFUL! (when I saw it I actually secretively went home and told Rocky about it, wanting to buy it myself) ...but lo and behold it was of course out of our budget =( oh well.

I LOVE that you're blogging!
